Read our story from the TRIBUNE
In
2000, we purchased this prime, Westside 14 acre property with the intention
of building a splendid Palladian villa surrounded with our vineyards and
olive trees.
It was designed and built with love in every detail.
My family has been in this country for over 400 years and were grain farmers.
They arrived in Massachusetts, moved on to Ohio, Iowa and then Oklahoma.
Farming is in my blood and I love it.
We planted the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in 2000 with the Viognier vineyard
following in 2001.
With a crew of four men, I planted 25% of the grapes and took care of
weeding them the first few years to avoid chemicals of any kind.
We take
great pride in the exceptional wines coming from the three acre vineyard
that we have planted so far.
In the fall we will remove more of the almond trees
and extend the Cabernet south facing vineyard by two more acres. In 2007,
we plan on adding another five acres of Cabernet.
As the wine has turned out to be outstanding, we want to increase our
production.
Roberta Weideman, is not only the owner of Bella Collina, but also the
winemaker, with Ryan Horn, of the Vintner Vault, as her consultant.
Ryan
was the Associate Winemaker with Justin, in Paso Robles and has great
expertise in the making of fine wine.
We use fine, new Nadalie French Oak barrels as well as neutral barrels
for a 50/50 blend of pure Cabernet and Viognier wines with the Viognier
in Stainless Steel Tanks.
